This delicious Authentic Bolognese Sauce or Ragu alla Bolognese is made with fresh ingredients and cooked low and slow. A true Bolognese sauce recipe takes time, but it is so worth it.

How to Make Bolognese Sauce

What you need:

olive oil

carrot

celery

red wine

and more...

Chop carrot, celery, and onion finely. In a pot, add oil and vegetables. Cook covered on low heat until onion is transparent.

Brown ground beef and pork, stirring occasionally. Sear meat and veggies, then add wine and cook off liquid.

Add tomato paste, puree, salt, pepper, and bay leaf(s) to meat mixture.

Simmer the sauce on low heat for 3 hours, stir occasionally. Do not boil to avoid burning.

After three hours remove the bay leaf and add the milk, heat the sauce thoroughly, for a couple of minutes.

Serve this amazing Bolognese sauce over cooked pasta.

1. Use an equal part of ground beef and pork, make sure it is not too lean, more on the fatty side.
