Pre-heat oven to 375F / 190C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll out the puff pastry, divide it in half lengthwise. Cover one half with the pastry cream and top with the pitted halved cherries. Place the remaining half pastry on top and seal the edges well.
Brush the top of the pastry with milk. Bake for 35-45 minutes or until golden. Cool to warmish, dust with powdered sugar and serve. Enjoy!
Notes
This easy cherry strudel recipe can be designed in many unique ways! Add slits on the top before baking or add slits to the top piece of dough and make a criss cross design when covering the bottom half.
Can I Make A Cherry Strudel Ahead Of Time?
A strudel tastes best freshly baked although you could assemble and store in the fridge for a few hours before baking.
How To Store Leftovers?
Cool completely to room temperature then store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days.
Can I Freeze This Creamy Cherry Strudel?
Unfortunately not. The pastry cream in this strudel does not freeze well and will change texture upon thawing. If you use cream cheese or ricotta, you can freeze it whole or in slices.
