I love this homemade strawberry lemonade, but when the temps soar only a frozen drink will do! This boozy frozen lemonade is not only easy to make but refreshing, light and my new favorite summer cocktail recipe.

If you want something over ice try my classic bellini cocktail and if it happens to be a cool summer night, try this espresso martini. You really can’t go wrong with any of these drink recipes for a hot summer day party.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Ultimate refreshing drink: Whether you enjoyed this frosty drink at county fairs, or amusement parks, this boozy adult version will bring back the best summer memories!
  • Crowd-pleaser: Lemonade and vodka are the perfect pair with sweet, tart and refreshing taste. Blended and frozen just make it perfect for any hot weather!
  • Easy to make: With only a few simple ingredients and 10 minutes, this icy lemonade vodka will be a cocktail you make on repeat for summer sipping!

Frozen Lemonade Ingredients

  • Fresh lemon juice: Freshly squeezed lemon juice will add the best taste. Skip the Minute-Maid or Country Time lemonade concentrate.
  • Simple syrup: Find this easily in the cocktail area of your grocery store. Sugar syrup is just a simple mixture of water and sugar boiled down into a syrup.
  • Citrus vodka: Lemon vodka and lemonade are the perfect pair in this alcoholic beverage.
Lemon zest: Enhances the lemon taste! Add more or less to taste.
  • Ice: Use more or less cups of ice depending on how frozen you like your lemonade slushy!
  • Lemon wheel: A whole slice of lemon for garnish!

Variations

  • Liquor: Try tequila for a margarita or to make a daiquiri use some rum! Gin would also be great.
  • Pink lemonade: Add some cranberry juice for a pink lemonade. You may need to adjust the other ingredients to suit your taste.
  • Dessert: Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or lemon sorbet to the blender!
  • Garnish: Garnish with fresh mint or basil leaves along with the lemon wheel or instead of a lemon wheel.

How to Make Easy Frozen Lemonade

Combine the lemon juice, simple syrup, vodka and lemon zest in a blender with ice.

Lemon syrup in a pot and the ingredients in a blender.

Blend until smooth. Pour the frosty treat into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with the lemon wheel.

Drink blended until smooth and pouring into a glass.

Recipe Tips

  • High-speed blender: Using a high speed blender or smoothie blender will make the best alcoholic frozen lemonade.
  • Make lemonade ice cubes: For extra lemonade flavor, make lemonade ice cubes to use instead of regular ice cubes! Just freeze lemonade in ice cube trays the day before you plan to make this recipe.
  • Make a big batch: Easily increase the amounts for slushy cocktails that can serve a crowd!
  • Stronger or weaker: Tweak the amount of alcohol in this vodka lemonade to your taste and preference! Why not try it with “Whipped” vodka!?

Storage

While you can freeze these, they will not freeze solid due to the sugar and alcohol. Store leftovers in the freezer covered and when ready to enjoy again, add to the blender and blend again to frozen slushy consistency.

Can I make kid-friendly frozen lemonade?

For a virgin frozen lemonade just skip the vodka! Add some more lemon zest for additional lemon taste if desired.

Can I use a different sweetener?

Simple syrup really is the best for consistency and texture in this frozen lemonade with vodka, but you can also try using just fine granulated sugar, honey or agave.

Can I make this with limoncello?

Yes! The Italian liqueur limoncello would add so much flavor to this recipe. Use limoncello instead of the citrus vodka on a 1:1 substitution.

Do I have to blend it?

If you would rather just have a spiked lemonade, combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker, shake to combine and pour into a chilled cocktail glass.
