Living in Italy it was sometimes very difficult to find the spices I needed to make my favorite Canadian Fall recipes, from Pumpkin Pie to Pumpkin Spice Liqueur. But since I learned to make Pumpkin Pie Spice at home it has become a lot easier.
Recipe Ingredients
- Cinnamon
- Ginger
- Nutmeg
- Allspice
- Cloves
If you want you can leave out the allspice and it will make a simple Pumpkin Spice. Pumpkin pie spice does include allspice in it. You can also tweak the amounts to your preference. The recipe can also be doubled or even tripled.
How to make it
In a small bowl mix together the cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice and cloves.
There might be a few tiny lumps in it so you can pass it through a sieve to remove them.
This takes less than 5 minutes to make, so when you are out of pumpkin pie spice but you have all the above spices in your pantry there is no need to run to the store.
I hope you find this useful when baking all your favorite Fall recipes. Enjoy!
