Easy Swirled Cinnamon Bread
This Easy Swirled Cinnamon Bread is a moist quick bread that makes any breakfast or snack time better. Quick and easy to make you will this will become a new favourite!
One of the things I love most about fall is definitely cinnamon. I could eat it in pretty much everything, from Scones to Shortbread and even Bagels. But there really is nothing better than a slice of a Cinnamon Sweet Bread. It’s delicious anytime, at breakfast or snack with a coffee or tea. Try it.
How to make it
In a small bowl mix together the cinnamon, brown sugar and butter, this will be used as the swirl.
In a large bowl beat together the sour milk, melted butter, eggs and vanilla. In a large bowl whisk together the flour, sugars, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix just until combined, the batter will be a little lumpy. Do not over mix as this will cause a tough heavy bread.
Spoon half the batter into the prepared loaf pan, top with half the cinnamon mixture and swirl with the tip of a knife, top with the remaining batter and remaining cinnamon mixture. Swirl again and bake in the pre-heated oven. Let cool before serving.
Is Cinnamon good for you?
Apparently it is, cinnamon can help lower blood sugar levels, reduce heart disease risk factors and more. Not only does it taste good it’s good for you too. Of course like anything it should be eaten in the correct amounts.
How to make sour milk
In a one cup measurement add 1 tablespoon of either lemon juice or white vinegar, then top with milk to reach 1 cup. Let sit for about 10 minutes before using.
Why use room temperature ingredients?
Room temperature ingredients trap air which causes them to expand in the oven, for this reason they will help produce a light and soft textured bake. They also bind together much better when mixing, which will produce a smooth silky batter.
How to store it
The Cinnamon Bread should be stored in an airtight container or bag, it will keep at room temperature for up to 3 days. You can also freeze it, either in individual slices or a whole loaf wrapped in plastic wrap and placed in a freezer safe bag or container. It can be frozen for up to 1 month.

Hi RoseMary
My name is Glenda and I have enjoyed receiving your wonderful recipes.
I really wanted to make the cinnamon bread ๐ but I have everything except the cinnamon. I had my right leg amputated a few months ago and haven’t gotten my prosthetic ๐ฆฟ so I can’t get to the store and my order by delivery is not available this weekend SO long story TMI.
Can I put bananas instead?
Hi Glenda, sorry to respond so late, thanks so much glad you enjoy the recipes, sorry to hear about your leg all the best to you. How about making this banana bread recipe and leaving out the cinnamon? https://anitalianinmykitchen.com/classic-banana-bread/ Let me know, take care!
This makes for a great breakfast or afternoon snack. I make this often. I don’t put butter in the cinnamon swirl and it still turns out great every time.
Hi Heather, thanks so much, so glad you enjoyed it. Take care!
So easy to make, and an absolute hit with the family!
Hi Sonja, thanks, so glad everyone enjoyed it. Take care and have a great weekend!
I made this bread last week and it was delicious! I sliced the rest, froze the slices individually, and my husband has one every morning with his coffee and they are just as delicious as when they were fresh. I have saved several of your recipes in the past but plan to check out your blog more thoroughly! I’m half Italian (father) and half Irish ( mother) so your recipes really resonate with me!
The cinnamon bread is warm and sweet and delicious and recipe was easy to understand
Hi Susan, thanks so much, glad you both enjoy it. I have the same background, except my mother’s side was Italian and my father’s Irish. Take care! ๐
This recipe was delicious, and in case anyone is wondering it can be made entirely vegan too. I made it with flax eggs, applesauce for internal butter and vegan butter for the swirl. Even with those changes it was amazing! I’ll make it again and again! Thank you!
Hi Nicki, thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it and thank you for sharing the vegan ingredients. Have a great week.
If using unsalted butter, should I add more than just a pinch of salt?
Thanks.
Hi Lo I think 2 pinches would be good, it’s only 1/4 cup, so that should be good. Let me know how it goes.
Ok thanks; I’m sure it’ll be delicious…all of your recipes are!
Hi Lo, thanks so much. Have a great weekend.
I LOVE YOUR RECIPES THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Hi Roxanne, thanks so much, so glad you enjoy them. Happy New Year.
For the Cinnamon Loaf can you use buttermilk for the sour milk?
Hi Gail, yes buttermilk should work fine. Let me know how it goes.
Sounds tasty & easy, and quick enough to make on the spur of the moment. Everyone usually has all of these ingredients on hand. One thing I’m wondering, is how the sodium content is so high per serving. Are you using salted, or unsalted butter?
Hi Angelina, I always use salted, I can never find unsalted here. Hope that helps.
This looks absolutely delicious! You got such a beautiful swirl of cinnamon in the bread, too–I just love how that looks AND tastes!
Hi Nikki, thanks so much.
This looks so good! I think I will be making this quick bread this week for my family. Yum! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Lauren, thanks I hope you like it.
